When I bought this chest at a local auction, I had no idea that it’s design was inspired by a classic design of Dorothy Draper, the “Espana Chest”.
Obviously, this was not an original (wish it was!), and in a very bad bad condition. I actually wanted to give up on it a few times during the process, due to the extend damage to the bottom, plus, it might have been use as a filing cabinet, as it had a bunch of numbers carved into the drawers.
…but I didn’t give up, as I had bigger and better plans for it…
So, here is my take on a classic inspired piece..Here it is before
…and here it is today, with a little help from one of my favorite products Mod Podge…
I also added little casters that I purchased from Harbor Freight, just to add a little bit of height, and to make it easier to move it around.
